We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Rhys Byrne who joins the club from Leyton Orient.

Rhys signed a professional contract at Leyton Orient in 2021 and made his senior debut for them in the EFL Trophy at home to Southampton.

Last season Rhys played for our National League South opponents Salisbury, making 22 appearances on loan from the O’s.

Speaking of the move, Rhys said;

“I’m very excited to be part of a club that is definitely going in the right direction. Looking forward to meeting the fans and playing my part in front of them.

I travelled here last year and thought the atmosphere was one of the best in the league so excited to be on the home side of things this year. I want to do my part in getting the club where they are aspiring to be and to show what I can do”

Commenting on the signing, manager Daryl McMahon said;

“Rhys is a young keeper I’ve known for a little while.

He has great potential and we believe we have signed a really talented player that we can help develop and help him reach his full potential. He already has good experience and has played senior football.

Welcome Rhys’

Rhys will wear the number 13 as his squad number for the upcoming campaign.

Welcome to the Urchins Rhys!
